Sony Pictures is developing a Madame Web solo film for its cinematic ‘Universe of Marvel Characters’, according to Collider. Morbius screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have reportedly been hired to write the screenplay.

Originally created back in 1980 by Dennis O’Neil and John Romita Jr., Madame Web is an elderly clairvoyant woman who, due to a neuromuscular disease, is connected to a life support system that looks like a spider’s web.

The report also names Palak Patel as Sony’s overarching executive producer for the films – assuming a Kevin Feige-esque role for Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters.

Other Spider-Man-related films in development by Sony include Morbius, sequels to Venom and Spider-Man: Far From Home, and reportedly solo films for Silk, Nightwatch, Kraven the Hunter, Silver Sable, Black Cat, Sinister Six, Jackpot, and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio.
