Press Release

The Comic-Con Museum is teaming up with Josh Agle, the prolific artist known as Shag, and The Shag Store to present a look at his works, methods and career.

An exclusive preview night fundraising event benefitting the Comic-Con Museum will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park, 2131 Pan American Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101. All guests will receive an exclusive, limited-edition print signed and numbered by Shag who will be in attendance and meet and mingle with fans. This event is courtesy of The Shag Store and Shag himself; only 175 prints will be made available for this event. Tickets are on sale now at

The works of Shag blend pop-culture, Tiki culture and a mid-century modern aesthetic to create unique pieces that are unmistakably of our time, but reminiscent of animation and commercial art from the fifties and sixties. The fundraiser will be followed by a weekend exhibit that will showcase prints, originals and a sampling of Shag’s books and merchandise created throughout his career in a gallery touched by the same wry and colorful sense of retro decadence that features so prominently in the pieces on display. The exhibit will be free and open to the public from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Guests of the Preview Night Fundraising event will also enjoy:

·       A chance to mingle with Shag in a mid-century inspired lounge space.

·       Mouthwatering hor d’oeuvres.

·       Hand-crafted cocktails from Snakeoil Cocktail Company.

·       Live music from The Martini Kings.

·       An exclusive limited-edition print with a run of only 175 signed and numbered by Shag;
